the sales of souvenirs carrying the newly launched emblem of the
2008 beijing olympics is just a prelude to the official marketing
program that will formally start from september 1, according to officials
with the organizing committee.
a new batch of licensed commodities carrying the emblem are also
expected to hit the market in the coming days.
experts say the emblem is the most valuable asset in the whole marketing
program, putting on it a price tag of over a billion us dollars. it
is estimated that about one half of the budget income for the beijing
games will come from the marketing program, and the other half from
tv broadcasting fees allocated to beijing by the international olympics
committee.
